NEW 2023 SNAP INCREASE UPDATE! State Emergency Allotment (APRIL) EBT Food Stamps Alert
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a federal program that provides financial assistance to low-income individuals and families to help them purchase food. In response to the inflation, the government has made several changes to the SNAP program to ensure that those who need it most can access it. The latest update is the announcement of a new SNAP increase for March and April 2023, which will provide State Emergency Allotments (SEAs) to eligible households. The new SNAP increase is a result of the ongoing inflation, which has caused financial hardship for millions of Americans. The SEAs will provide additional benefits to households that are already receiving SNAP benefits, bringing them up to the maximum benefit amount allowed by their household size. This means that eligible households will receive a temporary increase in their monthly SNAP benefits for March and April 2023. The amount of the SNAP increase will vary depending on the household’s size and income. For example, a household of four with no income will receive an additional $782 in benefits for the two-month period, while a household of one with no income will receive an additional $204. The maximum allotment for a household of four will be $782 for the two months, while the maximum allotment for a household of one will be $204. It’s important to note that not all households will receive the SNAP increase. The SEAs will only be provided to households that are not already receiving the maximum benefit amount allowed by their household size. Eligible households will be notified by their state’s SNAP agency, and the additional benefits will be automatically added to their EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) card.
